Those facing accusations as part of the social benefits racket which has rocked the country are going to do what others did in the Egrant scandal, PN MP and party spokesperson for Justice Karol Aquilina said on social media on Monday.
In a Facebook post, the PN MP said that those involved in the alleged benefits fraud racket “will say that they do not know who the signatures belong to.”
This after earlier this month the Times of Malta revealed that beneficiaries who received illicit disability money, said that a Labour Party canvasser and a former minister's aid lured them into the benefits fraud scheme, in return for a vote and a kickback amounting to a year's worth of benefits.
Aquilina said that up until this very day “a plan continues to be hatched so that those who are the masterminds behind the severe disability benefit racket get off lightly. The big fish have a clear plan in case they are brought to Court.”
In comparing this scandal to the Egrant scandal, Aquilina said that “in short”, the people involved in this racket will “get someone else to sign falsely so that if they are caught, they will definitely not be able to get involved.”
“This is the evil that these people work with,” he said.
