It is incredible that the Nationalist Party tries to say that the Labour Government has failed when it comes to the economy and manufacturing, the Labour Party said Friday.
The only thing the PN is still remembered for is the last Nationalist Minister responsible for this sector saying that he would bet that the manufacturing sector in Malta would end within ten years. This is the legacy of the PN: negativity and lack of vision, the PL said in reply to a PN statement on the closure of a manufacturing company.
The facts are clear: under the Labour Government, the number of full-time workers in manufacturing sector increased from 20,000 in 2012 to 26,000 today - an increase of around 30%.
"They do not know what they are saying about how the Government is attracting foreign direct investment, which has not only increased jobs considerably, but the value of investment by foreign companies in Malta has doubled from €250 million in 2012 to around €500 million today," the PL said.
This increase stems from unprecedented investments in advanced manufacturing, automation and productivity improvements. "The PN's statement is an offence towards the thousands of workers who give their best every day and thanks to them Malta managed to attract and retain investment," the PL said.
The Labour Government is a guarantee of continuous improvement both in the sector and in the training and conditions of workers. Maltese workers can be reassured that under the Labour Government their interests will remain protected and their future assured, it added.
People know that this Government has introduced a sense of trust in the field of employment that will continue to translate into more benefits for the Maltese as never before.
People also know that despite the change in leadership, the Nationalist Party will remain the same. Destructive, without any substance and negative.
"We do not expect better from the PN, especially after that it was not even able to come up with a pre-budget document, let alone have an economic vision," the PL concluded.
