A man was critically injured on Sunday morning and two others were slightly hurt after they were hit by a car in Xaghra, the police said.

The man, aged 22 of Naxxar, was hit by a Toyota Vitz driven by a 53-year-old man from Morocco who resides in Zebbug, Gozo.

The other two injured pedestrians are another man aged 22 of Mellieha and a 19-year-old woman from Victoria.

They were all taken to Gozo General Hospital for treatment.

The accident happened in Victoria Road at 3am.

Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech is leading an inquiry.
