A construction worker was seriously injured after falling three storeys in Santa Venera on Monday morning.

Police said the accident occurred in Canon Bonnici Street at around 8.15am.

The worker, an Egyptian 45-year-old who resides in Paola, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital. His identity has not yet been established.

A magisterial inquiry has been opened, led by Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia, and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority has also launched an investigation into the incident.
